Solo 30x30 is 30-minute dance performance presented in the same location, at the same time for 30 consecutive days. Created by choreographer and performer Paul-André Fortier, one of the leading figures in Canadian contemporary dance, this minimalist work is stripped of the stage’s artifice and resolutely grounded in the urban décor to form a bond between performer, audience and place.

KJ Denhert has been making audiences laugh, dance and cry for over three decades. Her special blend of urban folk and jazz has earned her multiple Independent Music Awards and in 2009 she was named as one of Jazz.com’s top female vocalists. Her pathos, originality and impeccable musicianship make KJ one of a kind, not to be missed.

From the folk-rock of his youth, through the reggae of his college days, to the echo of his time spent in Africa, Chris Velan has created a unique collection of songs that inspire repeat listening. Not often will you find an artist that juxtaposes the horror of sectarian strife with the hopeful musings of errant love.

The Joyce Theater and Arts Brookfield Properties present Paul-Andre Fortier's Solo 30 x 30 as part of the River to River Festival. Fortier's 30-minute dance performance is presented in the same location, at the same time every day from July 16 - August 14, 2010.

On August 11, The Drawing Center invites you to join The Big Draw Flash Mob and draw Fortier in motion! Stop by on your lunch break or after a walk through Battery Park and make a sketch on an old shopping list or the back of your morning meeting's agenda. Battery Dance Company kicks off its 35th season by presenting the 29th Annual Downtown Dance Festival in two great outdoor venues. Battery Dance and a dozen other local companies will be joined by international companies from India and Japan in New York City’s longest-running dance festival. Answer the New York Times’ challenge and “just try to walk by without being stunned!”
